Suggestions

Members suggest something with /suggest, the community votes with πŸ‘/πŸ‘Ž, the team decides – with a reason and a direct message.

How it works

  1. A member types /suggest and fills in a short form: title, description and – if set up – a category.
  2. The suggestion appears in the suggestion channel with a number, πŸ‘ and πŸ‘Ž buttons and a bar showing the current standing. If you like, a thread for discussion starts below it.
  3. Each person has one vote. Clicking the other button switches it, clicking the same button again takes it back.
  4. The team clicks βš™οΈ Team and chooses Accepted, In progress, Rejected or back to Open – optionally with a reason.
  5. The post is updated, the person gets the result by direct message, and accepted suggestions can additionally land in their own channel (e.g. #implemented).

Setup

Dashboard β†’ Suggestions.

  • Suggestion channel: suggestions appear here. Ideally a channel where members can’t write themselves – that keeps it tidy.
  • Accepted ones also in: optional, with a link to the original.
  • Categories: e.g. β€œServer, Events, Games” (at most 10). In the form, they’re picked from a list.
  • Who decides? Specific roles – or empty: admins and bot masters.
  • Thread for discussion, result by direct message and anonymous suggestions (shown without a name in the post; the team sees in the dashboard who submitted it).
  • Cooldown: minutes between two suggestions from the same person (against spam).

Tip: The bot needs Send Messages, Embed Links and, for the discussion, Create Public Threads in the suggestion channel.

Decide in the dashboard

At the bottom of the page you find all suggestions – filterable by status and sortable by Newest or Most popular. You can accept, set to β€œIn progress” or reject them there too. The bot then updates the post, thread notice and direct message within a few seconds.

Suggestion or bug report? /suggest is for ideas for your server. Requests for ZoneBuddy itself go through /bugreport.
