Server builder

#How it works

Dashboard → Server builder (admins only):

1. Choose a template: gaming community, clan/team, streamer, support/company, study group or roleplay – or start from scratch.
2. Customise: rename, add, remove and sort roles (name, color, permissions), categories and channels. On the right you see live how it looks in Discord.
3. Build: ZoneBuddy shows what will be newly created and what already exists. After you confirm, it builds step by step – on large servers this takes 1–2 minutes.

#Permissions made simple

Instead of dozens of checkboxes, you choose per category or channel:

• Everyone – everyone sees and writes
• Members only – visible to roles with “member” and the team (e.g. after verification)
• Team only – visible only to team roles (moderator, admin)
• Everyone reads, team writes – e.g. #rules or #announcements

Role permissions: Moderator can warn, kick, ban, time out and manage messages. Admin can additionally manage the server, channels and roles. The builder never grants “Administrator”.

#Fine-tune permissions

• Roles: click Permissions on any role – all Discord permissions grouped (general, members, text, voice) to check. The levels member, moderator and admin serve as a starting point. With “Team role” you decide whether the role sees “Team only” areas.
• Categories and channels: click Permissions – as in Discord, choose a role (or @everyone) on the left and set each permission on the right to ✕ deny, ⁄ neutral or ✓ allow. These settings take precedence over the simple access level.
• Channels inherit their category’s permissions. With the “Sync with category” switch off, only the channel’s own permissions apply.

#Set up ZoneBuddy at the same time

You can assign channels directly to a feature: Welcome, Goodbye, Level-ups, Mod log, News and Hall of Fame. After building, everything is connected.

#Undo

After building, you can undo everything for 7 days. Exactly what this build created is removed – your existing channels and roles stay.

#Back up your server

Under My templates → Back up this server, ZoneBuddy saves categories, channels, roles and their exact permissions (role permissions and channel permissions for roles and @everyone; entries for individual members and “Administrator” are not included). You can use the template on any server where you’re an admin – for example to set up a second server the same way.
